Judge Smith has set a hearing on $cientology's motion to have me held
in contempt of court for January 17. 0930 in Department F.
I believe I have therefore until January 7 to file my response to
whatever $cientology serves on me, which it should already have filed.
Regarding whatever $cientology files I will be taking the position,
which I believe I've been quite clear about throughout this extensive
litigation, that the injunction, for violations of which $cientology
is attempting to have me jailed and fined, and additionally prosecuted
criminally by the District Attorney, is unlawful. It condones and
orders an abuse of process, an obstruction of justice, and an
impermissible stripping of civil and human rights, and leads in its
enforcement to a gargantuan stupidity.
But I was thinking. It would be really cool if some a.r.s.
participants, and anyone else in the world who might have an interest,
write to Judge Smith and tell him why they believe Gerry Armstrong
should not be silenced. $cientologists, of course, are invited to
write to Judge Smith and tell him all about how their religious creed
requires that they all believe I *should* be silenced.
I have written a great deal on this subject, and thank God that such a
healthy amount of what I've written has made its way so far around the
world that I really don't have to say anything more. There's a good
set of documents covering my legal history with $cientology which
brings me to this January 17, 2001 hearing at
http://holysmoke.org/ga/ga.htm
You can send Judge Smith declarations if you feel up to that form. But
I think some thoughtful letters will make an excellent record. People
not only from California, who would not want to see what $cientology
is trying to do be ruled lawful in their State, but people from around
the world have an interest as well in any $cientology target not being
silenced by the organization. I believe this is the address:

Marin County Superior Court case No. 152229/157680
Dear Judge Smith:
Free Gerry!
Yours sincerely,

Pass it on. Have fun. This could be a golden opportunity. Some people
have specific reasons why $cientology should not be permitted to
silence me; e.g., if I was a witness in some legal proceeding. And
maybe a petition could be assembled and signed by people who wouldn't
otherwise write a letter.
Hey, Happy New Year!
